A Note Before the Terms
The agreements below exist for one reason: to protect the integrity of the work — yours and mine.
This work asks something of both of us. Clear boundaries are part of how I hold that. Read these terms fully. If anything is unclear, ask before we begin.
— Melissa Ratliff-Sorrell
Scope
These terms apply to all services provided by Melissa Ratliff-Sorrell through Melissa Shakti Coaching, LLC ("MSC"), including coaching, mentoring, consultation, education, webinars, workshops, intensives, live events, individual and group sessions, and retreats.
By choosing to work with Melissa, you agree to the boundaries and policies outlined below. These agreements exist to create emotional, spiritual, and professional integrity for everyone involved. These policies may be updated as needed; the current version will always be posted at melissa-shakti.com, with the effective date noted above.
All fees for services provided by Melissa Ratliff-Sorrell and Melissa Shakti Coaching, LLC are the responsibility of the client unless otherwise noted.
Statement of Intent
Melissa offers coaching, mentoring, and transformational support designed to challenge, uplift, and guide clients emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically. The work you do together is not clinical psychotherapy. Melissa holds an active clinical license and twenty years of experience as a licensed therapist; however, she does not provide psychotherapy services in any capacity, and no clinical relationship is created by working together.
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. If you are experiencing a mental or emotional state that interferes with your ability to function in daily life, it is your responsibility to seek support from a licensed mental health professional, and Melissa may require it as a condition of continuing the work.
Clients understand and agree that they are fully responsible for their emotional and mental well-being during, after, and between sessions.
Refunds, Withdrawals, and Transfers
All enrollments include a 48-hour grace period beginning at the time of registration. Withdrawals within this window receive a full refund, less third-party payment processing fees.
After the 48-hour grace period, withdrawals requested within fourteen (14) days of purchase are eligible for a refund of fifty percent (50%) of the amount paid, less third-party payment processing fees. All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected].
No refunds are issued more than fourteen (14) days after purchase, or once a program has begun — whichever comes first.
Deposits for events and retreats follow the same schedule. After fourteen (14) days, deposits are held and are non-refundable.
In place of a refund, funds — including held deposits — may be transferred to another service or offering, excluding Sacred Soul retreats. The decision on where to apply transferred funds must be made within sixty (60) days of the withdrawal request. The selected program or service does not need to occur within that window — only the decision does. Funds not designated within sixty (60) days are forfeited.
Payment plans represent a commitment to the full program price. Discontinuing a payment plan constitutes withdrawal from the program and is governed by the refund and transfer terms above; remaining balances may still be owed for programs already underway.
Recurring memberships may be canceled at any time with notice received at least thirty (30) days before the next billing date. Requests received within thirty (30) hours of billing take effect the following cycle.
Clients enrolled in 1:1 coaching complete a Closure and Completion Session as part of any exit, to honor the container and provide closure for both parties.
Multi-session packages must be used within six (6) months of purchase. Unused sessions after that period are forfeited.
Clients who fail to remit timely payment and do not correct the issue promptly may have services paused or canceled until the account is brought current.
Scheduling
All sessions require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with at least 24 hours’ notice may be rescheduled. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice — or missed without communication — may be forfeited.
Scheduling is available via a private booking link sent upon registration. Once your session is confirmed, you’ll receive a Zoom link (or in-person location details if applicable). Reminder emails and/or texts are sent within 24 hours of your session.
While Melissa primarily works virtually, in-person sessions may be available based on location and availability. In-person requests are not guaranteed and will be confirmed within 48 hours of booking.
Session Conduct
To protect the integrity and safety of the work, clients agree to refrain from the use of alcohol or illicit substances during and directly before sessions. If substance use is apparent, the session will be ended and forfeited.
Virtual Session Interruptions
If a virtual session is interrupted by technical failure, we will first attempt to continue by another platform or by telephone (662-321-1583). If the session cannot be continued and more than half of the scheduled session time has been completed, the session is considered delivered; follow-up support by phone or message will be provided as needed to complete the process. If the interruption occurs during a hypnotherapy or energetic process, the session will be rescheduled at no additional cost and will not count as a completed session, regardless of time elapsed.
Confidentiality
What happens in your sessions stays in your sessions. The content of your work with Melissa — what you share, what you process, why you came — is held in strict confidence and will not be disclosed without your written consent, except where disclosure is required by law, court order, or mandated reporting obligations related to risk of harm to self or others.
Please understand the legal distinction: coaching is not psychotherapy, and coaching communications are not protected by therapist-client privilege. In the event of legal proceedings, records could be subject to subpoena. However, Melissa intentionally keeps minimal records — session dates and times, and the responses you provide through scheduling and intake forms. No session notes or clinical documentation are created or kept.
Complete anonymity of the working relationship itself cannot be guaranteed. Group intensives, retreats, and in-person events mean other participants may know you are a client. What is never shared — publicly, privately, or in passing — is the content of your work or the reasons you came.
Testimonials, client experiences, or images are shared only with your written consent. Images from group events may occasionally include participants; names and identifying details are never shared without permission.
Program Materials + Access
If you are granted access to a private portal, community, or course content, please honor that access as sacred.
Only current, enrolled clients are permitted to use this material. Sharing your login or distributing content to others is prohibited and may result in immediate removal from the program.
All teaching materials, downloads, processes, and techniques used in any of Melissa’s programs or events are the intellectual property of Melissa Shakti Coaching, LLC and may not be copied, replicated, taught, or distributed without written permission.
Retreats
Melissa offers in-person retreats as part of her transformational work. Details regarding location, date, and itinerary will be shared in advance, and every effort will be made to honor the scheduled timing. However, retreat dates are subject to change with a minimum of 60 days’ notice.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, travel costs (including airfare and lodging) are not included in the retreat or program fees. Clients are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Retreat participants are required to sign a separate Assumption of Risk, Release of Liability, and Participation Agreement as a condition of attendance.
Text, Phone + Additional Support
Programs include access via telephone, text, or another approved communication platform for asynchronous support. You may use communication outside scheduled sessions to share updates, celebrations, questions, or receive encouragement.
Office hours for telephone, text, or asynchronous support are generally Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM Central Time. Messages sent outside these hours will be responded to during the next window of availability. Asynchronous or telephone support is not intended for emergencies or urgent matters.
Assumption of Risk
Melissa’s work includes hypnotherapy, somatic, and energetic processes that may surface strong emotional and physical responses. Clients voluntarily participate and assume responsibility for their own physical and emotional well-being. Clients agree to disclose any medical or mental health conditions that may be relevant to safe participation. Retreat and in-person event participants may be required to sign a separate liability waiver as a condition of attendance.
No Guarantees
Melissa believes in your capacity to experience deep transformation and lasting change. She holds you as whole, capable, and wise. However, she does not promise or guarantee any particular outcome. This work is a co-creative process — and you are the most important part of that process.
Melissa and Melissa Shakti Coaching, LLC do not claim to cure or treat mental, emotional, or spiritual illness. Your success depends on your willingness to show up, engage, and do the inner work.
Eligibility
Services are available only to individuals eighteen (18) years of age or older unless parent/guardian permission is explicitly granted.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi. Any disputes arising under these terms will be resolved in the courts of Lee County, Mississippi.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
